Anais Amin is a seasoned Los Angeles professional specializing in journalism, marketing, and community advocacy. With a Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University, she has developed a diverse career spanning radio production, brand management, and social advocacy. She leverages her skills to drive social justice initiatives and foster positive changes in her community.

Early Life and Education

Anais Amin was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), earning a Bachelor of Arts in English. During her tenure at UCLA, she was deeply involved in student government, serving as one of the fourteen council members representing over 30,000 undergraduate students.

Her role in student government allowed her to champion issues like social justice, access to higher education, and mental health services for veterans. She led initiatives to raise social justice awareness and education on campus, managing a team of 40 volunteers to implement these programs. Additionally, she was responsible for moderating a pivotal political debate between U.S. House of Representatives candidates.
Following her undergraduate degree, Anais pursued further studies at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, obtaining a Master of Science in Journalism in 2020. Her focus areas included audio, text, and video journalism.

Her academic accomplishments include a detailed 5,000-word master's thesis on the experiences of a Syrian refugee family moving to the U.S., a published article detailing her family's escape from genocide, and a video project exploring medication-assisted recovery.

While at Columbia, she also engaged in investigative journalism, reporting from the civil and criminal courts in the Bronx. Her reports included in-depth stories on topics such as sexual abuse in Orthodox schools and the misuse of force by private security guards.

Professional Career in Radio Production

Anais started her professional radio production career, gaining experience working alongside respected industry figures. From January 2022 to December 2022, she worked as a production assistant at Marketplace, an award-winning public radio program produced by American Public Media.

During her tenure at Marketplace, she researched and pitched interview topics, pre-interviewed guests, and edited audio segments. She also wrote scripts for the hosts, produced digital content for the website, and collaborated with fellow producers on content development. Her assignments often included producing same-day interviews and personal audio essays.

Before her full-time role, she interned at Marketplace from June to December 2021, assisting in guest research, show preparation, and digital content creation.
Additionally, she worked as a production assistant at KPFK Radio 90.7 FM from 2017 to 2019. Her responsibilities included booking and interviewing experts and scholars for discussions on various topics, from social and political issues to economics and science. She pitched and developed weekly show topics, edited interviews, and produced one-hour radio segments that adhered to broadcast quality standards.

Career in Marketing and Branding

Beyond journalism, Anais has also made significant strides in marketing and brand management. She is a Marketing and Brand Manager for a fashion manufacturer, managing multimillion-dollar accounts and spearheading marketing campaigns.

Previous Roles

Before her current role, she served as an executive assistant at Pacific Dental Lab, Inc., in Thousand Oaks, California, in 2017. There, she managed marketing strategies, handled accounting tasks, and ensured the company's smooth operation. She facilitated communication between management and staff and resolved conflicts within the team.
She also interned in PR and marketing at The Borgen Project, where she focused on global poverty reduction. She engaged political leaders to garner support for poverty reduction legislation and produced outreach materials, including YouTube videos and social media campaigns, to mobilize political and community support.

Community Engagement and Volunteer Work

Anais is committed to volunteering and has worked with various organizations, including animal shelters and a horse ranch for children with special needs. She has been actively involved in local political campaigns. She has supported numerous charitable causes, such as the Children of Armenia Fund, journalist support campaigns, and REBUILD THE BLOCK, which supports Black-owned small businesses.

Personal Life and Hobbies

Anais is an accomplished oil painter and avid photographer, allowing her to express her artistic vision and capture unique world perspectives. She enjoys spending time outdoors, visiting museums, and exploring new cultures.
